EAGLE - Trailer Safety Park Valve with safety lock out.
This safety product
is designed to prevent unexpected trailer departure during loading
operations, or while trailer mounted equipment is in operation
thereby helping protect staff and equipment.
In addition,
dependant on the type of operation, it can
help prevent spillages that may cause environmental pollution.
The Eagle valve is
based on our award wining
trailer safety park valve,
which in addition to the proven safety benefits of this product, has
a valuable additional feature that enables it to be locked in the
brake applied position by a remote signal, thereby preventing manual
release of the trailer brakes until safe to do so. The Eagle valve
may be fitted in place of a conventional park valve or fitted in
addition.
When remotely
activated, the trailer park brakes are applied (if not already
applied) and the Eagle valve locks in the brake applied position
preventing manual brake release.
Prior to the
availability of the Eagle Trailer Safety Park Valve with Safety
Lock Out, a unique patented Pownall product, some methods used
to provide tow away protection have been independent of the trailer
park brake control valve and because of this have in many cases
introduced the potential for the trailer to be unexpectedly
un-braked which is totally unacceptable. When it is safe to release
the trailer brakes the Eagle valve is manually operated as a normal
park valve. If
not safe, the push button will not go to
the brake release position thereby informing the
driver that something is not right.
Application examples
The Eagle Safety
Park Valve is extremely versatile:
Double-Deck Trailers in a loading bay coupled to an external power source enabling use of the
deck lift. When the power lead is connected, an
air signal is automatically sent to the Eagle Valve locking
the valve in the brake applied position thereby preventing the
driver from manually releasing the trailer brakes.
When the power lead has been safely disconnected, the driver
can release the park brake in the normal manner.
Tanker Trailers.
The Eagle valve together with associated controls are installed to
allow the discharge gate to be opened only if the park
valve is applied, then when the gate is opened an
air signal is sent to the Eagle valve to lock in the brake
applied position until the discharge gate is next
closed. This
then allows the park valve to be manually
operated releasing the trailer brakes, thereby providing a
robust safe working procedure.
General Trailer Loading – Safe-T-Load.
A basic system
would consist of a shrouded “loading” control switch mounted just
inside the trailer door. As soon as the load door is opened, the
“loading switch” is operated locking the Eagle valve in the brake
applied position. On completion of work and just before the door is
closed the “loading switch” is turned off. It is now safe to move
the trailer and the driver can now manually operate the Eagle park
valve releasing the trailer brakes.
Trailer Mounted Cranes, Machinery, etc.
We would be pleased
to discuss your particular requirements. Various options can be
incorporated including visual status indicators and audible alert
that the trailer is being coupled. The Eagle Safety park brake valve
can be purchased separately or with associated controls.
